The year is 1991 and having bravely left a 13 year relationship, circumstances led me to an eight week self esteem / self awareness program called Gemini.
First, some memorable life changing moments that resonated with the core of my being. One workshop facilitator, years before, took us on a 'what if' journey as she described life. She had us imagine ourselves sitting at a boardroom table writing a play with other actors that had agreed to play the various parts that we would create. She told us that we would decide what life lessons we wanted to learn this time around. We all contracted to play our parts. There were family soul members that we had worked with many times before as well as other souls that were joining us for the first time. Play finished, we picked the parents and geographical area that best supported the lessons.
Once we were born into the new lifetime we would forget the play. Having free choice, we could follow the script, change the script or throw the script away.
Fast forward to the Gemini workshop which was about polishing the GEM IN I. One exercise was to write a list of qualities that we do not like in others. Then the facilitators explained that we only see qualities in others that we have ourselves. Other people were a mirror, reflecting back at us, the parts of the GEM IN I that needed polishing.
Next, we wrote a list of qualities that we admire in others. We were then told that we would not see those admired qualities if we did not have them ourselves. All we needed to do was polish the GEM IN I.
There have been many opportunities over the years to be reminded to remember to polish my GEM.
The learning continues. I am eternally grateful to my fellow actors for their supporting roles in my life's play.
